(UPDATE : 2006.10.1)
The 8th World Congress for Microcirculation will be held at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 15 - 19, 2007. The host society is the Microcirculatory Society. The Midwest Airlines Center is a beautiful state-of-the-art convention center that is close to downtown attractions, and is directly linked to the headquarters hotel (the Milwaukee Hilton) via a skywalk. With its proximity to Chicago and its airline connections, Milwaukee and the Midwest Airlines Center are easily accessible by both domestic and international travelers. For further information about the congress, see http://www.microcirccongress.org.
The scientific program is developing well. The themes and topics are listed at http://www.microcirccongress.org/Home/ThemesScientificTopics/tabid/36/Default.aspx. A considerable number of symposia have already been proposed, but the program is not yet filled and there is substantial room for expansion and re-organization. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to submit proposals for additional symposia on the attached form. To achieve a strong representation of all geographic areas, we are particularly seeking proposals that include speakers from outside North America.
Financial support may be requested from the Congress organizers up to a maximum of $4000 per symposium. The symposium organizer should allocate any such funds among the speakers to partially offset their expenses. The symposium organizer may also request waivers of the registration fees for speakers who would not otherwise attend a World Congress for Microcirculation. Criteria used to evaluate proposals will include: scientific quality and relevance to conference themes; representation of national microcirculation societies; amount of financial support requested; amount of financial support available from other sources.
Please use the attached form (in MSWord) to propose symposia, and send proposals by October 15, 2006 to Julian Lombard jlombard@mcw.edu.
We look forward to hearing from you, and to welcoming you in Milwaukee next year.
